The Continent’s Largest Housing and Construction Expo, has started Today In Abuja.
Among the features of the Africa International Housing Show are Product Presentations, Building Technology Exhibitions, home interiors, modern construction equipment, chemicals and paints, mortgage services, housing projects, and interactive forums that brings together prominent stakeholders in the built industry from around the globe to achieve affordable housing.
The 18th edition of the show will play host to a diverse array of dignitaries, such as Vice President Kashim Shettima, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc, Ahmed Dangiwa, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Abdullahi Tijani Gwarzo, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Marcus O. Ogunbiyi, Chairman of the House of Representative Committee on Housing and Habitat, Abdulmumuni Jibrin, and a host of others.
The Vice President of Nigeria Kashim Shettima (GCON)
Senator Kashim Shettima is a very intelligent and outspoken politician, who started his working life as a university lecturer. He later became a banker before quitting in 2007 to join politics. Mr Shettima studied Agricultural Economics for both his first and second degrees at the University of Maiduguri and the University of Ibadan respectively. Mr Shettima was first named the Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development but later served in four other ministries, including Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Education, Agriculture and Health. He is Currently, the Vice President Of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria.
Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, Minister of Housing and Urban Development (Chief Host)
Arc. Dangiwa holds degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he earned a Bachelor’s in Architecture, an MSc in Architecture (Arch). He also has an MBA from Wharton University, in Pennsylvania. From 2017 to 2022, Dangiwa was the head of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and has acquired decades of expertise in the housing industry.
As FMBN’s MD/CEO, Dangiwa spearheaded groundbreaking reforms that put the country’s top mortgage bank back on the path of openness, profitability, efficiency, innovation, and increased influence as a provider of social housing. He is a member of multiple professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) and the American Institute of Architects (AAIA).
Wale Edun, Minister of Finance (Special Guest of Honour)
Mr. Olawale Edun, an economist and financial specialist, possesses experience in both domestic and international merchant banking, corporate finance, economics, and international finance. Wale Edun holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from the University of London and the University of Sussex respectively, Wale is Nigeria’s current Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance. He was an executive director of Lagos merchant bank, Investment Banking & Trust Company Limited, now Stanbic IBTC.
Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development (Special Guest of Honour)
Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo, graduated from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where he studied Textile Engineering and was awarded a Bachelor of Science (Tech) degree. He was the former Chairman of Gwarzo local government, former ALGON chairman in Kano, former Adviser to Governor Shekarau on Special Duties.
He was Deputy Governor of Kano state as well as Commissioner of Water Resources. While serving as the Deputy Governor of Kano state, he was assigned to supervise the state ministry for water resources, where he superintended the construction of a 75,000,000 liters per day, Watari water works, and the reticulation of the greater Kano water project.
Dr. Marcus O. Ogunbiyi, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (Co-Host)
Dr Ogunbiyi is a seasoned and qualified agricultural engineer, he began his career in the Nigerian Federal Civil Service in 1993. During his time in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Ogunbiyi successfully completed numerous missions and worked in a variety of roles. He studied Agricultural Engineering and Mechanization at the Federal University of Technology, Akure. He later proceeded to the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, where he bagged a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Crop Storage and Processing in 2019. Engr. Dr. Ogunbiyi has had a number of scientific papers in local and international journals to his credit. He has also authored post-harvest handling manuals on selected fruits and vegetables. He is a corporate member of the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE), the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria (COREN).
H.E Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Chairman Senate Committee On Housing, (Special Guest of Honour)
Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is a Nigerian lawyer and politician who has served as Senator for Sokoto South since 2023. He attended Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, where he studied Law, graduating with an LLB (Hons) degree in 1991. He completed his one-year compulsory legal studies at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, obtained his BL and was called to the Bar in 1992. He served as the governor of Sokoto State from 2015 to 2023, and served as the 12th Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria from 2011 to 2015.
AbdulMumuni Jibrin, Chairman House Of Representatives Committee on Housing and Habitat (Guest of Honor)
Honorable Jibrin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science, obtained from the University of Abuja in 1999. He followed up with a Master of Science degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2003. Hon. Jubrin started work and business in the media and construction industry, before establishing his own company, Green Forest Investment Limited. He later became Chairman/CEO of Green Forest Group with subsidiaries in investments, construction and engineering, property development, petroleum and gas and agriculture. Between 2010 and 2011 he was Chairman (Nigeria) of Turkish construction giant, TASYAPI, as well as Chairman of the Abuja branch of Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce.
