The President of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria [REDAN], Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko stated yesterday that REDAN, a self-regulatory organization of the real estate is poised to collaborate with the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering [SCUML] and other organizations including the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit [NFIU] that are ready to join hands to sanitize real estate business in the country.
He also said that REDAN has instituted the Estate and Product Endorsement Scheme geared towards enhancing the standardization of its members’ estates who comply with extant laws and building codes.
“As a self-regulatory organization for the real estate sector, we are poised to collaborate with your organization [SCUML] to sanitize the real estate business in Nigeria, Wamakko stated.
“In addition, work with other organizations including your sister organization, the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit [NFIU] and other organizations that are ready to join hands with us in achieving the goal.
“Be informed that we have instituted the Estate and Product Endorsement Scheme to enhance standards of members’ estates who comply with extant laws and building codes amongst other requirements. Also, we are endorsing Building Materials Producers that have acquired certifications of the Standard Organization of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Programe [SONCAP], Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme [MANCAP] and other criteria”, Wamakko concluded.
