The Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency, on Wednesday, said that it plans to make the ‘state a state with zero potholes, with clearly defined outcomes of smooth roads that will aid our socio-economic development.

This is as it began the second phase of repair on Zion Plaza-Olusoji Avenue linking the Alao-Akala Expressway in Ibadan. OYSROMA chairman, Busoye Ogunlade, who stated this in a statement in Ibadan, the state capital, said the first phase of the repair was executed in June 2024. He said the new repairs would bring hope of relief to the residents and commuters, adding that desilting work has begun on drainage to put an end to traffic gridlock and ameliorate the plights of the road users.

“We designed the existing drains on that road and cut the bad portions of the road. We are looking at having a state with zero potholes, with clearly defined outcomes of smooth roads that will aid our socio-economic development,”

Ogunlade, who applauded Governor Seyi Makinde for his swift approval of the repairs on roads, stated that the agency considered the second phase of the road, due to its deplorable condition. “Repairs on the road will impact businesses and transportation in the area positively.

“Governor Makinde listens to the cries of the masses. We have been able to assess some roads in bad conditions, and we are starting a massive repair in the state. Presently, our men are at the second phase of Zion Plaza- Olusoji Avenue linking Alao Akala Expressway, doing repair works,” he said.
