Abuja – December 22, 2023 – Viewpoint Housing News.

The Ogun State Building Production Management Authority, have been warned all estate developers in the state to comply with town planning laws and regulations that govern the building industry. These include obtaining planning permits, authorization to begin construction, stage-by-stage certification of building constructions, and certificates of fitness-to-use.

Ogere, Sango-Ota, Itori, Ibese, Kobape, Ilisan Remo, Ilara Road, Iperu Remo, and Ogere were all included in the two-day monitoring and enforcement exercise conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development’s Central Monitoring Unit. This was revealed by Olakunle Olaniran, the acting General Manager of the authority.

He said, “This exercise has shown that even the elite, who should know better, are still contravening the laws. The fact that an estate is fenced does not mean that it was built in compliance with the laws. All buildings, whether inside an estate or not, must have planning permits, building authorisation, stage-to-stage certification and certificate of fitness to live.”

Olaniran also said the sensitisation would be continuous, and  the enforcement would ensure  compliance with the laid law  by the state.

He noted that 46 residential buildings within two estates in Sango-Ota were served contravention notices, while six commercial buildings and three residential buildings, which had earlier been served contravention notices, were sealed during this exercise.
