The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) recentlyย  held a landmark event at the Banquet Hall, Aso Villa, Abujaโ€”the Inauguration Lecture and Ceremony of the 26th President and Chairman of Council, ๐‘ฌ๐‘บ๐‘ฝ ๐‘ฝ๐’Š๐’„๐’•๐’๐’“ ๐‘จ๐’…๐’†๐’Œ๐’–๐’๐’๐’† ๐‘จ๐’๐’๐’๐’ˆ๐’†, ๐‘ท๐‘ต๐‘ฐ๐‘ฝ๐‘บ, ๐‘ญ๐‘น๐‘ฐ๐‘ช๐‘บ, ๐‘ญ๐‘ช๐‘ฐ๐’๐‘ซ.

In his inaugural speech,ย  the 26th ๐๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐๐ˆ๐„๐’๐• ๐„๐’๐• ๐•๐ข๐œ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ ๐€๐ฅ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ž, expressed profound gratitude to the members of NIESV for their trust and support.

He outlined his vision for the institution, emphasizing the importance of real estate in economic development.

He expressed his commitmentย  to enhancing the profession’s relevance and ensuring that NIESV continues to be a dependable partner to the government in policy formulation and implementation, land administration, asset valuation, and more.

Represented by ๐Œ๐ซ. ๐“๐จ๐ฉ๐ž ๐Š๐จ๐ฅ๐š๐๐ž ๐…๐š๐ฌ๐ฎ๐š, charged NIESV with adopting innovative approaches to asset valuation, drawing inspiration from global examples such as Singaporeโ€™s Temasek.

He underscored the potenti0al of Nigeria’s real estate sector to significantly boost GDP through strategic asset management and valuation.

In his remarks, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio emphasized the crucial role of professional bodies in national development, he charged NIESV to lead efforts in curbing quackery and the exploitation of tenants by real estate agents who are mostly quacks and establishing industry standards to elevate professionalism within the sector.

On his part,  the Executive Governor  ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐‹๐š๐ ๐จ๐ฌ ๐’๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ž, ๐๐š๐›๐š๐ฃ๐ข๐๐ž ๐’๐š๐ง๐ฐ๐จ-๐Ž๐ฅ๐ฎ announced his administration’s goal to increase the real estate sector’s contribution to the state’s GDP from 5-6% to 15-20%.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of collaboration within the profession. He urged NIESV to support and encourage its members, highlighting that the current land use charge has successfully attracted real estate investments and fees. The governor’s call to action underscores the vital role NIESV can play in elevating the real estate profession and significantly boosting its economic impact.

The lecture highlighted the vital contributions of professional bodies, such as setting standards, providing continuous development, and influencing policy.  It also emphasized the crucial role of Estate Surveyors and Valuers in economic growth, urban planning, and sustainability.

The lecture also harped on the need for synergy between professional bodies especially NIESV and the government in fostering national development and implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration.
