The Vice Chancellor of Bingham University, Nasarawa State, Professor Haruna Kuje Ayuba, and the management of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) have  met to discuss  collaboration between their respective organizations. Their  worthy partnership emphasises the necessity of collaborative research and development (R&D) to fulfil the demands of Nigerians.

The visit, which took place on August 6th, 2024, at NBRRIs Head Office in Abuja, emphasized the significance of strengthening partnerships between academic institutions and research organizations.

Professor Ayuba, who took office in January 2024, expressed his intention to build upon the achievements of his predecessor, Professor William Qurix, particularly in maintaining and enhancing the relationship between Bingham University and NBRRI.

His goal is to solidify this relationship through collaboration and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which would benefit both institutions and contribute to the broader development of Nigeria by equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge.

The Director-General and CEO of NBRRI, Engr. Prof. Samson Duna, welcomed the initiative and reassured the Vice Chancellor of NBRRI’s commitment to education and national development.

He highlighted NBRRI’s ongoing R&D efforts and opened doors for Bingham University students to participate in Industrial Training (IT) and NYSC programmes at the institute. To move forward with this collaboration, a six-member committee was established, comprising representatives from both institutions, to explore areas of mutual interest and formalize their partnership through an MoU.

This initiative reflects the critical role of research institutions like NBRRI in supporting educational institutions and contributing to national development through R&D in infrastructure, which is essential for building a vibrant society in Nigeria.
