In an effort to meet the urgent demand for affordable housing in the state capital, the government of Borno State has allocated aside 113 hectares of land for the construction of housing projects in Maiduguri.
This area is a portion of a larger 2,000-hectare parcel that is designated for the development of 1,000 homes along the Maiduguri ring roads in the east, west, and south.

Executive Secretary of the Borno Geographic Information Service (BOGIS), Adam Bababe, disclosed the land allotment upon its announcement, stating that it was decided upon in a meeting between Green Path Development Company and government representatives.

Bababe emphasised that this programme is in line with the urban redevelopment initiatives of Governor Babagana Zulum, which place an emphasis on modernising urban areas to enhance living circumstances for people all throughout the state.
Bababe stressed that the region’s housing shortage will be greatly reduced after the 1,000 housing units were completed.

In order to ensure that the project design adheres to local customs, he advised Green Path Development to take into account Maiduguri’s cultural aspects when submitting comprehensive project plans for government evaluation and approval.

Governor Zulum received accolades from Dr. Babagana Mohammed, Group Managing Director of Green Path Development, for including business partners in the state’s housing projects. He promised to implement first-rate dwelling options that adhered to local building norms and land laws while utilising premium materials and contemporary construction methods.

In an effort to effectively address Maiduguri’s housing deficit, the company stated that, it is committed to carrying out in-depth site studies and creating plans that maximise space and usefulness for a variety of housing types.
