Lagos - September 22 - Viewpoint Housing News – The Commissioner of the Ministry of Housing, Lagos State, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, has said the state government is committed to addressing housing deficit and inadequate decent shelter.

He said it would be done through diverse strategies, which include utilisation of innovative building designs such as vertical construction of more homes and collaboration with private investors.

He stated this on resumption to office. He called on the management and staff of the ministry to rededicate themselves to duty and support the administration to actualise the THEME plus agenda of the Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Akinderu–Fatai said that though the housing sector has attained great strides in housing delivery, more zest is required to ensure that the successes are taken further.

He called on the staff to align with the spirit of the new administration by embracing the virtues of hard work, honesty, and selflessness among others and to be ready to make sacrifices by putting in their best towards actualising the ideas and innovations, which would promote and deliver more homes to Lagos residents.

He also advised the technical staff to bring to the attention of the state government any contractor found using inferior or low-quality building materials for government housing projects, saying: “It is the responsibility of every worker to ensure the safety and durability of every house delivered to the people.”

The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Kamar Olowoshago, said all hands must be on deck to increase housing stocks in the state.

He also promised to discipline any staff that violates the rules and regulations and wished the commissioner success as he leads the team towards achieving the goals
