Kogi signs deal to reconstruct moribund hotel

The Kogi State Government has finalised agreement with one of the leading tourism industries in the world, Capital Boutique Limited, to begin the remodelling and reconstruction of the moribund Confluence Beach Hotel, Lokoja. The Governor, Yahaya Bello, signed the multi-billion naira deal with the company at the Government House, Lokoja, recently.

He said the deal which included expansion and remodelling of the hotel, was geared towards improving the economic fortunes of the state, job creation and recreational activities. gov. Yahaya said the Confluence Beach Hotel would be transformed into a 5-Star hotel with a standard golf course and different resorts.

The Managing Director of Capital Boutique Limited, Mr Cyril Akika, said the development of the Confluence Beach facility was to include a nine-hole golf course, blocks of 108 rooms, 158 chalets, an international conference centre, swimming pools and shopping areas in addition to the existing facilities. He further stated a total capital in excess of N5bn would be injected into the first phase of the project. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.
