On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in Abuja, this accomplished during a COLLABORATIVE MEETING with the top executives of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN).
In addition to congratulating Dr. Rabiu Olowo, the head of the Federal Parastatal, on his appointment by the current administration, President Amayaevbo, who led the institution’s delegation to the Pally, emphasised the importance of valuation in Nigerian financial institutions like banking, real estate, and telecommunications for accountability, credibility, transparency, and decision-making.
He underlined the significance and vital role of valuation in promoting sectoral growth, maintaining environmental sustainability, building infrastructure, drawing foreign direct investment (FDI), and generating employment opportunities.
The President emphasised and advocated the adoption of IPSA as the financial reporting standard and urged for the quick activation of FRCN’s Valuation Directorate. The President cited the significance of IPSA for decision-making, conformity with international standards, and maintaining stakeholder confidence.
In response, the Executive Secretary conveyed thanks for the cooperative visit and extended a hearty welcome to the Institution. He asked for technical and financial help for the Valuation Directorate and agreed that the Council was willing to collaborate with NIESV.
The Executive Secretary assured that the directorate would be operational before March 30, 2024, and showcased at NIESV’s 54th Annual Conference in April 2024. He commended President Amayaevbo’s vision and solicited for NIESV collaboration in area of technical and expertise Support in the taking off of the directorate. He reiterated and gave firm commitment to the creation of the directorate before 28th February 2024.
