A fire that broke out on Saturday at the Alfa Yahaya neighbourhood of Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, has damaged property, including medications, furniture, and various drinks estimated at N23.8 million.
Two stores and seven apartments at number five of the Ado property were impacted by the fire.
Three of the seven apartments were damaged by fire, while the two stores’ contents were totally ruined.
Hassan Adekunle, the head of media and publicity for the Kwara State Fire Service, confirmed the incident and said that the firefighters did a great job minimizing the damage the fire caused.
He said, because the firefighters were able to do an excellent job of minimizing the damage, many physical assets as well as other rooms in the structure were spared from the devastating fire. He also indicated that, the nearby power surge was the fire’s primary cause.
According to Adekunle, “total estimated property saved is N47.4 million, and total estimated property lost is N23.8 million.”
Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, urged the populace to develop the habit of turning off their electrical appliances even before going to bed because doing so would significantly lower the likelihood of fires breaking out in their various homes and offices.
