Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during the commissioning of 248 low cost houses at the Grand Luvu 3B Estate, in Masaka, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State last Friday, said the Nigerian government is finalizing on a comprehensive ten-year national housing scheme, aimed at harmonization of all housing initiatives in the country.
This is just as Nasarawa State governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, unfolded reforms introduced by his administration aimed at evolving sustainable housing, as well as increased private sector participation in the state’s economy, particularly the housing and construction industry.

While identifying the twin challenges of inadequate and substandard housing in the country, Professor Osinbajo said the Buhari administration since inception, is at the final stages of bringing onboard a comprehensive ten-year national housing scheme that will reduce cost of housing construction.
Describing the commissioning as “a watershed event in the important work of providing housing for Nigerians who need it most”, the Vice President stated that “while the challenge of inadequate or no-housing undermines the quality of life of many Nigerians on low income, it also denies our economy and, therefore, our collective welfare the growth that is possible through a vibrant housing market.
“The most recent initiative regarding this is the N200 billion National Social Housing Programme under the N2.3 Trillion Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP), which is aimed at delivering homes for Nigerians on a low income, as well as providing jobs for the local industry”, the vice president said.
