Nigeria’s Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola at the inauguration of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN)’s I – CONNECT Housing Estate, under the bank’s Cooperative Housing Development Loan Window, said building professionals, including surveyors, architects, and construction companies have benefitted financially from the housing programmes implemented by the previous administration of Muhammadu Buhari.

Fashola also said numerous projects constructed across the country had helped several businesses stay above turbulent economic times.

“Surveyors, architects, construction companies, their employees, artisans, suppliers, transporters and many more involved in the construction section of the economy have benefitted directly and indirectly, he said.

“Indisputably, whether President Buhari meets these people or not, and it is not likely he can meet all of them. His policies, programmes and projects have met them at their point of need.

“In all, well over a thousand individuals and seventy different small businesses were involved here,” he stated.

The minister, who inaugurated 404 housing units, said the project was part of the multipronged response of the government to the challenges of multidimensional poverty, adding that the houses were proof that the determination to lift people out of poverty was real.
