The Association of Consulting Architects of Nigeria (ACAN) has called on the Federal Government to ensure strict enforcement of the National Building Code.

Secretary of the association, Ekaete Bassey-Kujah, made the call when she led her members on a visit to CDK Integrated Industries, makers of porcelain tiles and sanitary wares located at Shagamu in Ogun state.

“The national building code is not yet in place, and it is supposed to address many of the problems associated with construction works in the country. We call on government to ensure enforcement of this code,” she said.

After going round the factory to witness production of tiles and sanitary wares, Bassey-Fujah lauded CDK for its local content production; saying the essence of made-in-Nigeria goods is to have products built from the scratch with local materials. This, she said gives impetus to the FG’s local content initiative.

The Managing Director of CDK Integrated Industries, Benard Longe described architects as major influencers in the industry. He said his company is the only producer of sanitary wares in Nigeria, adding that it maintains high quality standard of production so as to satisfy customers. Daily Trust
