British -American unveils solar power plant in Ibadan (South-West) Nigeria.

British American Tobacco Nigeria, unveiled its cutting-edge solar power plant at its Ibadan manufacturing facility, in line with its Commitment in Nigeria to foster sustainable Electricity supply in the country.

The Area Operations Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, BATN, Charles Kyalo, emphasized the significance of this feat, stating that the inauguration of the 1MWp DC grid-tied solar panel system in Ibadan, Nigeria factory marked a substantial step forward in sustainability journey in electricity supply.

The newly inaugurated 1MWp DC grid-tied solar system is designed to generate an average of 2,800 kWh per day while reducing carbon emissions by 450 tons.

The Managing Director, Cluster Director of West and Central Africa, Yarub Al-Bahrani, underscored the company’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and serving as an industry benchmark.

“This not only showcases the company’s dedication to reducing its carbon footprint but also sets a feat in the industry by harnessing the power of renewable energy. We are not only securing a cleaner future but also contributing positively to the community and the environment,” he said.

The Director of External Affairs, BATN, Odiri Erewa-Meggison, said that the installation of the solar power plant reinforces its position as a trailblazer in the transition toward a greener and more sustainable future.

“We are proud of this significant milestone as it affirms BATN’s commitment to our bold ambition to build ‘A Better Tomorrow’ and reduce the impact of our business on the environment. This project is coming with the president Tinubu’s Renewed hope promising Nigerians in order for sustainable growth.
