Suspected Boko Haram insurgents yesterday killed at least one civilian JTF member and abducted 10 Internally Displaced Persons in their farms, in two separate attacks in Borno State.

The head of Mammanti village, a suburb of Maiduguri, Mohammed Ibrahim Bulama, lamented how insurgents also set 100 houses ablaze and carted away, livestock.

“They packed their bicycles near trenches and started shooting sporadically. We all fled our homes exactly 11pm on Wednesday night, they carted away more than 120 cows and goats before burning 100 homes as you can see, where do they want my people to sleep?

“They also killed one of our active members of civilian JTF, by name Alhassan Kwali. We are appealing to the government to come to our aid.”

He appealed to Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Buratai, to deploy troops to the village because his people “are fleeing due to lack security presence.”

The insurgents also at Korori area, near Bama town, forcefully took away a dozen of women from their farm.

A member of civilian JTF, who participated in search and rescue operations, said they would continue the operations today after meeting with village heads. Daily Trust
