Jigawa council spends N3m on boreholes spare parts

Alhaji Hussaini Umar, Chairman, Mallammadori Local Government Area of Jigawa, says the council has spent N3 million to buy spare parts for 239 broken down boreholes in the area.

Umar made the disclosure in Mallammadori on Thursday while inspecting the spare parts supplied by AHCO Ltd., a local company.

He said that the 239 boreholes were part of the 2,709 hand pump boreholes in the 11 wards of the council.

The chairman listed the spare parts to include 400 pipes, 150 bolts and nuts, 120 packets of bearing, 65 chains, and 30 bundles of rods, among others.

Umar stated that the council would continue to commit resources into drilling and maintenance of boreholes to address water shortage in the area.

In his remarks, the Councillor representing Makaddari Ward, Alhaji Mohammad Hashim, urged technicians handling the repairs to render effective service to the people. NAN.
