The Kaduna State Deputy Governor today declared opened a retreat organized by the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) in a bid to fashion strategies to reinvent the authority and position it to effectively deliver on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for the housing sector.
With the theme “Enhancing the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) for Improved Housing Solutions in the Era of Renewed Hope”, the retreat demonstrates Federal Housing Authority’s commitment and clear focus to drive his vision in the housing sector.
In her address Dr Balarabe said housing is fundamental to the preservation of human dignity and that access to safe, affordable and secure housing is the foundation of human dignity. Regrettably a large proportion of Nigerians are either homeless or lack decent accommodation.
According to her, fashioning effective strategies to address housing deficits at the federal and state levels has therefore become an urgent and strategic imperative.
The deputy governor stressed that provision of affordable houses for Kaduna State citizens is a key priority for the administration of Senator Uba Sani.
“We are committed to addressing the housing deficit in Kaduna State in line with our administration’s policy thrust and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. We have adopted a holistic approach towards filling the identified gap. Our approaches include (i) Partnering with local and international investors (ii) The Social Housing Scheme (iii) Development Lease Agreement (iv) Public Housing Corporation, and (v) Site and Services.
She noted that the retreat “offers a unique opportunity for staff and management of Federal Housing Authority to discuss and share housing development initiatives, explore emerging technologies, and proffer practical solutions to Nigeria’s housing challenges”.
