Many residents of Mararaba in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State were feared dead following a downpour on Wednesday night.
Investigation by Northern City News indicated that several houses and property estimated at several millions of naira were also destroyed by the flood.
Residents expressed worry over the lack of drainage in the community which they blamed for the flooding.
The Chairman, Calvary Road Residents Development Association, Kabayi, Mr Leonard Ogu, said due to near-absence of roads, water, health facilities and power supply, life was becoming unbearable for residents.
He noted that the education of children was being hampered, adding that pupils had to boycott school anytime it rained heavily.
A Mararaba resident, Alhaji Adamu Mikag, said the community had been deploying their money to rehabilitate the roads for many years. Punch
