REDAN SEEKS GOVERNMENT COLLABORATION TO CURB FRADULENT LAND ALLOCATION

The Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) has called on the Federal Government,  to partner with REDAN in other to eradicate criminality in the housing industry.

This was contained In a statement made public by The chairman of REDAN (Abuja Chapter) Dr. Okoruwa Anthony Ehikioya.

They also made an appeal  to  the honourable Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike to collaborate with REDAN to provide affordable housing to Nigerians and ensure a transparent,  efficient and effective land allocation system.


They commended the FCT minister for his giant strides in making  the FCT habitable and highlighted his level of dedication to ensuring infrastructural development in the FCT.
They reiterated their Support for his administration, and his efforts at ensuring a proper land allocation system in the FCT.

They criticised what they described as unscrupulous elements who tarnish the image of REDAN, and emphasized REDAN’s commitment to ensuring affordable and decent housing for all Nigerians.


“Our members are ready to partner with the government to ensure legitimate Land allocations, none of our genuine members have ever been involved in a fraudulent land allocation.


Our members  buy land at exorbitant prices, or enter very unfavourable joint ventures with land owners, in trying to acquire lands.

“I want to reiterate that our members do not fake land documents, these documents are faked by people in the system, who are very conversant with the system, while our members fall victims of such endeavours” he added.

“It is because there is a ready market in demand , that is why people grab lands, fake land documents and sell to unsuspecting victims.”

“We call on the government to  give recognition to Real and genuine developers, I can assure you that they’ll be a decline of these cases.”

“We can confirmed that, some our members have also being scammed by some government officials.

“We are appealing to the honourable minister to come to the aid of the developers, we are being branded as crimninals, we are not criminals we are decent individuals who cannot deliberately go into fraudulent activities.


“We also call on the FCT minister to partner with REDAN,  in order to ensure a seamless and genuine land allocation system in the FCT”.

“we are not asking government to give us free land, we are only appealing to the government to allow us develop our lands for the good of the people and of the Nation at large”.

“It is painful that, our subscribers trusted us with their money , but we now turn up to tell them that, their monies couldn’t acquire them a land. It is not fair!


“We are willing to partner with the government ensure that all fraudulent developers punished, but an innocent developer, should not be punished, a scammed developer should not be punished. We are also victims of fraud, we are pained! He lamented.

Mr. Anthony asserted that, REDAN have the drive to ensure that all forms of criminality is eliminatated from land allocations in the FCT.


Criminality thrives in the midst of secrecy , he stated, we need transparency in Land allocations. 


He added that, Some fictitious  developers hide under the umbrella of building houses to call themselves REDAN members, “not all “so called” developers are REDAN members,  our members are Law abiding individuals,  our members are Honourable individuals.


We can no longer watch criminals tarnish the image of REDAN, this is why we have gone to the extent of proposing a bill to the national assembly to ensure that the housing industry be sanitized of all criminal elements.


We have also requested the cooperation of law enforcement agencies to achieve a criminal free land allocation system.
We at REDAN have a duty to provide affordable housing to the society and we are not ready to play down on it. The statement concluded.
