The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service has received reassurances from the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, that the ministry is prepared to work with the agency to prevent fires from breaking out in public buildings located in the nation’s capital.
Dangiwa made the pledge, while receiving a team from the FCT Fire Service on a courtesy visit to the ministry in Abuja. He also urged the agency to advocate for the installation of firefighting apparatus in all structures.

“Firefighting appliances should be easily accessible from the beginning of building design, as they were intended by engineers, architects, and planners,” he said.
Therefore, in order to protect people and property, the minister emphasised how important it is to have firefighting equipment like sprinklers, smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers available in public buildings.
Dangiwa gave the agency commendations  for their prompt reactions and commitment to mitigating fire breakout incidents in the Federal Capital Territory.

Adebayo Zacchaeus, the acting director of the FCT Fire Service, had earlier stated that the ministry was hosting them in order to strengthen their current cooperative efforts to prevent fire outbreaks.
According to Adebayo, the FCT administration is in favour of all structures having fire safety features included in their blueprints from the onset of construction.
He said that, in order to comply with the FCT management’s directions, which require the installation of firefighting apparatus in all buildings four stories and above in order to secure the safety of people and property, they would look to expand their relationship.
