The president of the Nigeria Institute of Building (NIOB), Prof Yohana Izam has at a 2-day workshop organised by the institute in Abuja, the Nigerian capital, said there is urgent need for mass housing provision in the country.
He also, at the event themed ‘Understanding The Nigeria Housing Challenge, Technology Driven Mass Housing Provision And Innovations To Address Housing Affordability’, gave an advice to the new administration of President Bola Tinubu to consider the provision of mass houses for Nigerians as a priority.
The provision of mass housing units he said would not only address the housing deficit in the country but, will also solve a social welfare problem, as it will reflect in the economy by creating jobs for many.
“We have look at the deficit in housing which some people have put the figures at 20 million, he said.
“So, I will say that the incoming administration should consider it as a priority to begin to develop mass houses for Nigerians that will solve a social welfare problem and it will also reflects the economy that will create jobs for our teaming populace”, he added.
