The president of the Nigeria Institute of Building (NIOB), Prof Yohana Izam at a 2-day workshop organised by the institute in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, has charged the in coming administration to prioritize developing of mass housing for Nigerians.

At the workshop themed “Innovation and technology in housing development”, he said the provision of mass housing units will not only address the housing deficit in the country but, will solve a social welfare problem and will also reflect an economy that will create jobs for its teaming populace.

“We have look at the deficit in housing which some people have put the figures at 20 million, he said.

“So, I will say that the incoming administration should consider it as a priority to begin to develop mass houses for Nigerians that will solve a social welfare problem and it will also reflects the economy that will create jobs for our teaming populace”, he added.

The second vice president of NIOB, Abimbo Kolade said housing challenges in the country are enormous that having an understanding of the actual data for housing deficit is another challenge.
