Aminat Yahaya —

In the early hours of today, a four-storey building at Balogun market, Lagos, was gut in fire, destroying goods worth several millions of naira.

The fire which some reports had it, began by last midnight, got one of the shops of the textiles and shoe building located on Gbajumo, before spreading to other parts. This morning, it had firemen from the Federal and State Services battling for about three hours before the fire was put out.

South West Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA Ibrahim Farinloye, said there was no loss of life.

”Presently, the fire has been brought under total control, he said.

“It has been contained without spreading to other buildings. No injury or death has been noticed accessibility to the source of fire is still very difficult but it is confined to the source”.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained at the time of writing this report.
