According to the Guardian, a family source said the abductors made contact with the family on Monday night and demanded N11 million, but later reduced it to N5 million.
It is not yet known if the ransom was paid.
Together with terrorist activities, kidnapping have been one of the security problems facing the Nigerian nation, cutting across the north and southern divide. It has been a source of money making by these kidnappers who demand ransom from the government or families of victims abducted.
Earlier this year, a train carrying more than 300 passengers was brought to a halt as bandits killed close to a dozen and abducted majority of the passengers. The abductees have however been released, having spent months in the den of the kidnappers.
