The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has flagged off the construction of not less than 500 housing units in Taraba State.

The Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer of NEDC, Mohammed Alkali, who performed the foundation-laying ceremony yesterday in Jalingo alongside the Governor, Darius Ishaku, and the Chairman of NEDC Governing Board, Maj-Gen. Paul Tarfa (rtd.), said the action had become necessary following the activities of insurgents in the region.

While 150 of the housing units will be built in Jalingo, the capital, 350, according to the commission, will be spread among other cities in the state.
