Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hammed Idowu Tijani, has assured residents of Jibowu Road, Karimu Alabi, Adewuni Adu, Wilson Aghedo, Olaniyi and Sani Balogun streets, of rehabilitating their roads.

The roads were damaged by heavy duty vehicles during the construction of Abule-Egba Flyover.

Tijani said he has written to the state government through the Public Works Corporation and got assurance to fix the road.

“They have given us assurance that after completing Jonathan Coker, Olayiwola and Agbe roads, they would move into those areas,” Tijani told reporters while giving the scorecard of his administration at a briefing.

According to him, the last four years has been challenging and demanding, thanking God for helping him surmounting the tasks.

The council, he said, has recorded a modest achievement with limited resources.

He said he had constructed and rehabilitated more than 14 roads with drainage and asphalt.

He noted that the Primary Health Care Centre (PHC) at Isokan has been reconstructed with modern medical equipment.

“The PHC at Alagbado was upgraded to provide 24-hour medical services. Other medical facilities in the LCDA were also given facelift,” he said.

Tijani said free exercise books and writing materials were always distributed to pupils in all public primary schools.

“GCE and JAMB forms were distributed to indigent students on regular basis. New Oko-Oba Primary school and Gbeleyi Primary schools 1 and 2 were rehabilitated.

“We acquired 50 acres of land for agriculture to boost food production and engage our youths who are interested in farming. We do organise empowerment programmes for women and youths regularly with financial grants to set up small scale businesses. Many got working tools for the vocational skills learnt. We placed some elderly people on monthly stipends for their sustenance,” he said.

Tijani promised to do more if re-elected. The Nation
