Labor leaders in Enugu State have commended the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) for paying attention to the housing needs of the workers, by delivering of affordable housing to civil servants in the State.

Chairman of the Trade Union (TUC) in the state, Comrade Benneth Asogwa noted that the state has benefited a lot from the bank and its activities. Some of the facilities are sited in Elim estate.

FMBN has over the years deployed over N4.5billion towards the construction of about 12 estates in Enugu as well as disbursement of home renovation loans totaling over N425million to 576 persons.

The Bank created the platform on which we worked closely with the Federal Government to ensure that they subsidize it by 54%, so to say 100 workers got 100 units of houses.

Comrade Nwobodo Virginus, stated that without the intervention of the bank, it would have been impossible for workers to acquire such properties, looking at the earnings of our members.
