Acting President Yemi Osinbajo visited the scene of the collapsed building in Abuja, Friday evening saying he was satisfied with rescue work there.

Osinbajo who was accompanied by the Secretary to Government of Federation (SGF), Boss Mustpha and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Bello wished those injured quick recovery.

He said, “The collapse of this building is a very unfortunate incident. As you know, it was a building under construction. It appears to have collapsed a few hours ago.

“The most important thing at the moment is that we have all of the relief, safety and emergency management agencies all here.

“NEMA [National Emergency Management Agency] is here, the FCT authorities are here, the Hon. Minister himself is here, the executive government is here.

“So, the whole process of ensuring that those who may be trapped under this collapsed building are rescued is well.”

A four-storey building under construction collapsed at about 2:00pm on Friday killing two people, breaking the leg of an engineer and trapping about a dozen.

Those trapped were said to be mainly petty food sellers and squatters.

Six persons have been rescued with various degrees of injuries.
